Rescue Squad Seeks Donations Through Letter Drive
The Henderson County Rescue Squad Inc., which formed in 1957, is seeking donations through a letter drive that began November 1st, 2017. The Rescue Squad is an IRS approved 501(C)(3) non-profit tax-deductible corporation. One hundred percent of your tax-deductible donation will go to support the Rescue Squad in much needed capital improvements. During 2016, the Henderson County Rescue Squad responded to over 2,660 calls for service. These calls for service included medical emergencies, water rescues, automobile accidents, rehab at structure fires, missing person searches, and medical standbys for EMS and at community events such as football games, festivals and numerous races. We have 97 personnel who train and work hard every day to provide an outstanding service for you. We currently have 68 Emergency Medical Technicians and 40 Rescue Technicians. Our members put in many hours away from their families and homes to provide you with a well-trained department that is ready to serve you at a moment’s notice.
Yes, we give our time, but the supplies and equipment needed to do our job are expensive. Henderson County has allocated money this year to help cover part of our operating costs; however, help is still needed for equipment and capital improvements. Please let that help include you. Our capital needs for this year include replacement of personal protective equipment for specialty rescue operations, updated radios for personnel and trucks as well as planning for other capital purchases such as replacement vehicles and updated water rescue equipment.
