Rescue Squad Seeks Donations Through Letter Drive
The Henderson County Rescue Squad Inc., which formed in 1957, is seeking donations through a letter drive that began November 1st, 2014. The Rescue Squad is an IRS approved 501(C)(3) non-profit tax-deductible corporation. One hundred percent of your tax-deductible donation will go to support the Rescue Squad in much needed capital improvements. In 2013 the Rescue Squad responded to over 571 calls for service. These calls for service included medical emergencies, water rescues, automobile accidents, rehab at structure fires, missing person searches, and medical standbys for EMS and at community events such as football games and the Apple Festival. During 2014 we advanced our level of care to the EMT-Intermediate level allowing our personnel to administer additional care for those in need. Due to changes in the needs of the community the Rescue Squad began handling non-emergency transports for the County in addition to our rescue services. This year we expect to exceed 2400 calls for service. We have 72 personnel who train and work hard every day to provide an outstanding service for you. We currently have 61 Emergency Medical Technicians and 33 Rescue Technicians. Our members put in many hours away from their families and homes to provide you with a well-trained
Yes, we give our time, but the supplies and equipment needed to do our job are expensive. Henderson County has allocated money this year to help cover part of our operating costs; however, help is still needed for equipment and capital improvements. Please let that help include you. Our capital needs for this year include much needed replacements of outdated dive equipment as well as additional supplies and equipment for confined space rescue and our six ambulances.
