NC Helo Aquatic Rescue Team Training

Info Pages

During the week of November 1st, 2010; the NC Emergency Management Helo Aquatic Rescue Team (NCHART) conducted training at DuPont State Forest.  NCHART is a highly specialized team consisting of North Carolina National Guard assets matched with North Carolina Emergency Management and local emergency services personnel that form a mission ready package for helicopter based rescues using the UH-60 Blackhawk.

The NCHART team used members of local agencies including the Rescue Squad to serve as survivors, or victims during the training.  Members were hoisted onto the aircraft from the ground to give the aircrews a real world training opportunity.  For this exercise the Henderson County Rescue Squad also provided logistical support staff to assist NC Emergency Management with providing meals, fuel and equipment for the three day training event.  This enabled Rescue Squad personnel to gain valuable experience in large scale incident management.   Training this year was conducted in conjunction with Blue Ridge Community College.
