Due to the timeline constraints of the DOI grant a committee was in place and preliminary design established when the grant was awarded.  The truck committee, chaired by Equipment Captain Toby Linville, was able to issue the RFP, evaluate the proposals and have the contract awarded by February of 2008.

Osage Industries, Inc. of Lynn, MO was awarded the contract.  This ambulance was not a standard truck due to the fact of our unique requirements.  The Rescue Squad was replacing a 1988 ambulance that would enable our on-duty crew to have one truck they could respond and have a variety of equipment to begin operations at any type of emergency incident.  Examples of the specialized equipment include:

·         Air ride suspension system

·         Hurst vehicle extrication equipment, saws and cribbing

·         High visibility markings

·         Stokes basket & rigging for ropes incidents

·         Water rescue equipment

·         Rapid entry SCUBA setup for on duty diver

·         Global positioning system

·         3000 watt inverter and tripod floodlights

·         Large incident rehab supplies

·         Additional compartment space for PPE

This truck has been a tremendous asset to the agency.  By having a new truck we have been able to reduce our overall vehicle maintenance costs substantially.  It provides a more dependable service to our staff and enhances the services we may provide to the community.
